Today I met for the weekly Public Relations and Marketing Committee Meeting for E-Week. It’s put on by the E-Club. E standing for Entrepreneurship. I’m part of this to get a credit for my major. Its been a good experience. I’ve learned a lot and had a good time so far. We just got the fliers and posters printed. They look great. I designed them myself.

These are the quarter sheet fliers…

…and these are the full sheet posters. We originally planned to have large tabloid sized posters (roughly 16 x 11) but quick decisions cut those out for now. We may print another batch of ads and probably would get the large size then. We also have a T-shirt that my Messaging Team created. A full sized banner is in the works after working out some problems.

This is what I like. Actually doing something. This is what makes school bearable. Something that applies. Classes do little or nothing for me but this is the real deal. This project also shows me that I really, really, should’ve gone into graphic design! I love it!

I really like my computer. For those of you who don’t already know, it’s tiny. I got it for super cheap from Sam’s Club on Black Friday. I’ve made a few modifications to it. I upgraded the RAM from 1 GB to 1.5 GB (the most it can handle). I upgraded from Windows XP to Windows Vista. I also use a high speed SD memory card dedicated to ReadyBoost to help keep it speedy. The hard drive is 160 GB. It’s not super fast but it is super portable, as you can see:

To help judge the size, here is my hand on it and a 20 oz bottle next to it. You can also see the USB cable on the left. This computer is way small and great to carry to classes and such. The best part of all, it is cheap. I paid $350 and the same exact model is now only $299. There is even another model that only has an 8 GB Solid State Hard Drive (SSD, a drive that works like a memory card, low energy and high speed) instead. I definitely have been pleased.

I use it for a few basic reasons:

Stitch 001

Microsoft Outlook. I use this to organize my calendar, tasks, contacts, and etc., and I sync them with my cell phone (a Black Jack 2 with Windows Mobile 6.1).

Stitch 002

Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. I know that Outlook is included in this but I also use Word for notes and typing papers and whatnot. It runs all these fine.

And of course, I use this notebook, termed a Netbook by the computer industry, for surfing the net. (Hence the net part of Netbook.) What you see is Google Chrome, a new internet browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. I like Chrome the very best. It is fastest and has the basics I need. It is the most reliable too. Only occasionally do I need to use another browser for compatibility; e.g. I used Firefox to do my taxes because I had to.

I really have enjoyed having a computer like this. I’ve avoided getting the smaller computers because they’ve typically lacked power. Those are generally 12 in screens. This 8.9 in screen gets the job done. I can do pretty much whatever I feel like doing.

Today I spend time hanging posters and putting out fliers for Disney. I am a campus rep and do advertising for the Disney College Program. Check it out (link to new window)! Britain and I had a blast when we went. We may even go back and do the professional internship. We’ll see…

It snow today. Grrrr. I wish the weather would make up it’s mind. I was loving the spring-like weather.

I took this out the bus window. It’s pretty, yes. But I want my spring back! On another note, school was good today.

 Larson's 016

Yesterday we went to Old Main Hill at USU and sat. We let Meg and Weston roll down the hill. It was after our nostalgic (for Jon and Teresa) tour of the campus. It was relaxing to stop and sit for a while. We also got Aggie Ice Cream too…yum!

Larson's 017

Beautiful Old Main.

Larson's 018

We kept teasing Meg and Weston about kissing on the “A”. We also teased Jon and Teresa a little bit.

This is just Meg. She’s cute.

Larson's 021

Meg took our picture on the “A”. We both True Aggies with each other. Kiss atop the “A” on Homecoming or A-Day with someone who’s not a True Aggie (like we did) or on any full moon with someone who is already a True Aggie.
