9728 MPH – The Moon Bag

To start off, here are some cute pictures from Jelly Belly sleeping.

Gabrielle 001 Gabrielle 002 Gabrielle 003

Here is the moon bag portion of the Moon Bag post. Britain put Jelly Belly on our big fluffy moon bag and took some cute pics.

Gabrielle 005

She fits very nicely.

Gabrielle 006

Alert, awake, and looking at the ceiling fan.

Gabrielle 007

Again, in my favorite pajamas. Yay! I can’t get over how cute she is! I also can’t believe how fast she grows! You can visibly see a difference from day to day. Subtle but there.

9726 MPH – Pooh Bear Compare

Jelly Belly got a bath. Afterwards we dried, dressed, and bundled her up. Obviously, with poses this cute you have to take photos.

 Gabrielle 002

 Gabrielle 005

She is so fun after baths. She is wide eyed and alert. She will find a feature and examine it. I get so excited when she looks at me and starts imitating me. She’ll make O shapes with her mouth pretty well and if I’m lucky, she’ll give me a small grin.

She is such a tiny baby so we’ve decided to compare her to a Pooh Bear Plush.

Gabrielle 007

She was trying to figure out what was going on. She is laying across the short way of her crib, if that helps put things into perspective. She still has room to spare!

 Gabrielle 009

As you can see, Pooh Bear is much bigger right now. It will be interesting to see how quickly she passes him up.

9725 MPH – Burping

While I was burping Jelly Belly, she assumed a super fetal position that scrunched her up into a small ball. I had Britain take pictures.

Gabrielle 003

Gabrielle 004

She was very comfortable…

Gabrielle 005

…or so I thought. Bending over backwards to make Dad smile.

9723 MPH – Great-Grandma Poulson

Gabrielle 001

Great-Grandma Poulson made a trip to visit us on the 23rd and took some pictures. It was nice to have her see her first great-granddaughter.

Gabrielle 013

Gabrielle 028

Gabrielle 034

This one is particularly fun because you can compare her size to the burp cloth. She still fist entirely on a single burp cloth!

 Gabrielle 038

Britain and I took this after Great-Grandma left. It is a precious moment with tiny hands and a symbol of lasting love between not only husband and wife but also continuing generations of family.

9719 MPH – Four “Larson's”

These were taken the last day of Teresa and Meg’s stay with us. They wanted a good picture of the four of them…and they got ‘em!

Gabrielle 001

I think this one is my favorite one of the four of them.

Gabrielle 002

Focusing on what’s important.

Gabrielle 003

She looks so peaceful!

Gabrielle 004

Four pretty girls.

Gabrielle 005

This is no doubt, my favorite picture so far of my baby girl, Jelly Belly.

FYI: Jelly Belly is the online blog name for my baby girl. Please don’t fear that I actually named my daughter after jelly beans.

9718 MPH – Lifeguard Games

So, the night we brought her home, I pretty much stayed up all night. I then drove to Kearns for a Lifeguard competition. USU Pool sent two teams of Lifeguards to compete. Lifeguard skills such as CPR, First aid, rescues, and etc. were tested and stacked up against the competitions. Neither team placed first but we all had a blast. It was the practice leading up to the games that mattered most. That’s why this was selected as one of the few ways employees could earn a raise. We had to review our skills and practice on our own time as a team. This also explains why I was able to leave a 2 day old baby at home with my wife…money for the diapers!

Lifeguard Games 023

This is me doing the brick tread event. We had to enter deep water feet first, swim about 25 yards, dive feet first about 7 feet to pick up a 10 lbs brick from the bottom and take it back with our face above water and two hands on the brick. There was a bonus point for keeping the brick completely above water…I got a perfect 21 out of 20. Go me!

Lifeguard Games 055

This is just a good picture.

Lifeguard Games 077

My mom and dad came for a while and took photos and such…

 Lifeguard Games 078

They would’ve stayed longer but they had a free showing of Harry Potter to go to….I’d go to Harry Potter if I were them too…

Lifeguard Games 081

This is my team. From the left: Chris, Me, McKel, and Andrew. Chris and McKell are Head Guards (bosses) as well as certified Lifeguard Instructors like I am.

Lifeguard Games 085

Here we demonstrated our CPR skills.

 Lifeguard Games 086

Overall, the games were loads of fun. I was exhausted with only about 45 minutes of sleep the previous night yet things still went well. Unfortunately, I crashed for 5 hours at my folks house before I could head back to Logan…

9718 MPH – Oh So Tiny!

After a night without sleep, countless feedings, and panic stricken father waking to every little whimper, we made it through the first night at home and into the 2nd home day.

Gabrielle 001

She sleeps like her dad with her arms curled up under her neck.

Gabrielle 002

Grandma Larson helped out a lot the first couple of days.

 Gabrielle 003

This is Jelly Belly in her swing. As you can see, there is plenty of room to grow. She is such a tiny baby.

 Gabrielle 004

She loves her basinet…as long as the vibrations are going. She really likes to be held while she sleeps. If she is already sleeping, the vibrations work, but if she can see she’s not being held, she’ll fuss about it.

 Gabrielle 006

Aunt Meg made her a cute cap while she stayed with us.

 Gabrielle 007

Such a good aunt. Meg was super helpful. As usual, our little baby doesn’t fit well into her clothes.

9717 MPH – First Day at Home

Here are the pictures from the first day home (the beginning ones are still at the hospital of course:

DSC_0001

This is Jelly Belly hiding her face from the sunlight…Daddy’s girl for sure!

DSC_0005

I Love her!

 DSC_0010

Packed up and ready to head to the car for the short drive home. She even has a cute yellow bow that is way too big for her head.

 DSC_0011

Mommy did the honors of carrying her out of the hospital.

 DSC_0013

When we arrived home, within minutes, the new Grandma Larson showed up and switched into her adorable mother mode.

 DSC_0014

Grandma again. Jelly Belly’s showing off her dress. Its the smallest clothing item and it is huge on the tiny girl!

 DSC_0015

A group of “Larson’s”.

 DSC_0017

Meg is going to be a great aunt. She will have tons of fun playing with her niece.

Gabrielle 002

There ain’t nothing like sleeping with daddy. She is so small! I love her!

9716 MPH – Birth of Jelly-Belly

At 1:49 p.m. on July 16, 2009, my wife Britain gave birth to a healthy 5 lbs 6 oz baby girl.

Gabrielle 002

We got to the hospital the night before at 11:30 p.m.

 Gabrielle 003

Our room had a cute saying on the wall.

 Gabrielle 006

My wife and her childhood comfort “Boots” the cat.

 Gabrielle 007

This is my daughter’s first picture ever. Not necessarily the happiest memory for her but certainly one of the best for Britain and I.

 Gabrielle 023

After she was cleaned up…

 Gabrielle 024

I kept taking pictures…

 Gabrielle 025

Her first weighing…technically only 5.8 oz but they round up to 6.

 Gabrielle 027

Finally, some sleep under the heat lamps.

 Gabrielle 032

Mom holding her for the first time. One of the happiest moments of my life!

 Gabrielle 034

The two happiest parents (if not tired).

Gabrielle 044

The sink was cold and she didn’t like that, but….

Gabrielle 046

…she loved the head massage part of bath.

Gabrielle 048

Precious!

Gabrielle 059

We then transferred to a mother baby room.

Gabrielle 066

That’s where she met the first part of her family.

Gabrielle 068

Aunt McCall is so excited!

Gabrielle 071

Grandma Parrish is just memorized.

Gabrielle 075

Grandpa Parrish is the most precious with his granddaughter.

Gabrielle 077

So much love for this little girl.
